Role Summary

The Sr. Drilling Engineer will work directly with the Vice President of Well Delivery on well design and the technical execution of drilling projects. The role is responsible for completing assignments independently and under general supervision, including preparing project timelines, cost estimates and procedures, reviewing reports and records for accuracy, tracking project costs, verifying invoices, and participating in post‑project analysis. The engineer must possess leadership, technical, and communication skills to interface with field and office staff, be self‑motivated, team‑oriented, and results focused.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare project timelines, cost estimates and procedures; review reports and records for accuracy; track project costs; verify invoices; and participate in post‑project analysis.
  • Prepare AFE proposals and detailed procedures for drilling operations.
  • Coordinate contractors to maximize capital efficiency and minimize time between well spud and first production.
  • Assume project‑management responsibilities: identify, recommend, and implement improved work alternatives and business processes.
  • Assist in developing and executing programs for non‑critical operations and sometimes critical operations.
  • Ensure compliance with company HSE policies.
  • Prepare field reviews, wellbore schematics, cost estimates and procedures for downhole and surface operations; analyze production and pressure data; possess basic reservoir engineering and economic evaluation understanding.
  • Negotiate vendor pricing for capital drilling program, obtaining and analyzing contractor bids.
  • Provide technical input and support in the development and administration of plans, policies, and programs to optimize goals and assets.
  • Develop well plans and direct daily activities for horizontal, directional, and vertical drilling operations across diverse areas.
  • Conduct preliminary research to determine optimum drilling design and operational parameters.
  • Compile, review, and analyze cost and performance data associated with drilling activities to optimize operations and reduce costs.
  • Provide innovative technical support to the drilling team to address issues arising during planning and operations phases.
  • Generate cost estimates and perform risk analysis for horizontal and vertical air/ fluid drilling operations.
  • Complete routine and moderately complex drilling engineering assignments independently.
  • Collaborate with regulatory and geological/geophysical groups to construct appropriate well plans and applications for permits to drill.
  • Work with well‑site supervisors and contractors to execute well plans safely and cost‑effectively.
  • Lead to promote a safe and environmentally responsible drilling operation and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Generate end‑of‑well reports.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge through educational workshops, professional publications, and personal networks.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Petroleum Engineering.
  • 5+ years of industry experience in drilling operations, with 3+ years of onshore experience.
  • Unconventional drilling experience within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Experience working closely with multiple technical disciplines.
  • Practical experience or training in risk analysis.
  • Proficiency in reliability and maintenance software.
