Entech Civil Engineers, Inc. (Entech) is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Engineer to support our Utility Engineering/Utility Coordination Team in Houston, Texas. This is an entry-level position ideal for recent civil engineering graduates or early-career professionals looking to develop expertise in utility coordination and transportation infrastructure projects. The selected candidate will work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment alongside engineers, designers, and project managers to support the identification, coordination, and management of utility conflicts on transportation projects.
You will gain hands‑on experience working under the guidance of senior staff with clearly defined objectives and opportunities for professional growth.
- Assist in coordinating with utility owners (water, wastewater, gas, electric, telecom) for transportation and infrastructure projects
- Support the identification and resolution of utility conflicts during design and construction phases
- Review plans, schematics, and utility records to verify existing utility locations
- Prepare utility conflict matrices, reports, and coordination documentation
- Assist in developing utility relocation plans and schedules
- Communicate with project teams, clients, and external stakeholders to track utility coordination progress
- Maintain accurate records of correspondence, agreements, and coordination efforts
- Support preparation of plan sets, exhibits, and technical documentation
- Participate in field visits and assist with utility investigations as needed
- Work collaboratively with engineers and designers to ensure project deliverables meet requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a civil or related engineering discipline, required
- Registration and designation as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or ability to obtain, preferred
- 0–3 years of experience (internships or relevant coursework preferred)
- Basic understanding of civil engineering principles and transportation projects
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Ability to interpret maps, plans and utility records
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a team environment
- Strong organizational, written and verbal communication, and problem‑solving skills
- Exposure to CAD software (Bentley ORD & Micro Station) is a plus
- Experience supporting Survey, Construction or SUE operations is a plus
- Familiarity with utility systems (water, sewer, drainage, electric, telecom) is a plus
- Familiarity with TxDOT Utility Coordination process, TAC Utility Accommodation Rules, 811 systems, GIS platforms are a plus
