Job Description

This role seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in oil and gas, power generation, or renewables to lead mechanical design and equipment selection for gas compression, gas conditioning, and power generation projects. The position focuses on reciprocating and mobile equipment, using Solid Works and AutoCAD to support projects from concept through completion, including field support during installation, pre-commissioning, and start-up.

Responsibilities

+ Develop mechanical engineering designs, including equipment lists, general arrangements, and process flow diagrams (PFDs), in accordance with project requirements.

+ Prepare detailed technical specifications and sizing calculations for major equipment such as gas compression, gas conditioning, and power generation systems.

+ Perform intermediate-complexity engineering designs, including analysis, calculations, research, and equipment selection for mechanical systems.

+ Select appropriate equipment and perform analysis to ensure optimal performance, reliability, and compliance with project and industry standards.

+ Modify or add components to already deployed assets to improve performance, reliability, or functionality.

+ Provide field installation support to construction personnel and support pre-commissioning and start-up activities.

+ Conduct thorough reviews and analysis of mechanical designs to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and client specifications.

+ Coordinate with third-party OEM packagers and general contractors to align mechanical engineering activities and ensure successful project delivery.

+ Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of mechanical designs with overall project objectives.

+ Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and client presentations to communicate progress, findings, and recommendations clearly and effectively.

+ Support projects from concept to completion, taking responsibility for the full project lifecycle rather than only isolated portions of the work.

+ Contribute to new product development efforts by applying mechanical design, GD&T, and engineering best practices.

+ Create and maintain bills of materials (BOMs) and other engineering documentation required for manufacturing and project execution.

Essential Skills

+ At least 10 years of experience working in oil and gas, power generation, or renewables with a focus on mechanical engineering.

+ Minimum of 8 years of experience in mechanical engineering, including design and analysis responsibilities.

+ Experience and understanding of reciprocating or mobile-type equipment.

+ At least 5 years of hands-on Solid Works experience for mechanical design.

+ At least 5 years of hands-on AutoCAD experience for mechanical design and drafting.

+ Proven experience with gas compression equipment and chillers.

+ Familiarity with mobile equipment for at least 5 years, preferably in oil and gas or power generation, but open to other industries.

+ Strong proficiency in mechanical design, including 3D modeling and detailed drawings.

+ Experience using analysis software and performing engineering calculations for mechanical systems.

+ Demonstrated ability in equipment selection for gas compression, gas conditioning, and power generation applications.

+ Ability to modify or add components to existing deployed assets based on performance and project needs.

+ Experience supporting projects from concept to completion, including full lifecycle involvement (cradle to grave).

+ OEM or manufacturing environments, with direct exposure to product and equipment development.

Experience with power generation and rotating equipment.

+ Strong skills in mechanical engineering fundamentals, including GD&T, calculations, and design validation.

+ Ability to provide field installation support and assist in pre-commissioning and start-up activities.

+ Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams, third-party OEM packagers, and general contractors.

+ Ability to participate confidently in project meetings, design reviews, and client presentations.
