Document Control Associate

Job Description

The Document Control Associate supports engineering teams by organizing, maintaining, and updating technical documentation for mechanical, electrical, and industrial projects. This role follows the direction of lead engineers to ensure that engineering documents, including P&IDs and drafting files, are accurate, consistent, and easy to access. The position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys working with data, documentation systems, and engineering teams within the oil and gas, pipeline, and energy sectors.

Responsibilities

* Follow the direction of lead engineers to organize, maintain, and update engineering documents and records.

* Prepare, manage, and control process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs) and related mechanical and electrical drafting documents.

* Perform accurate data entry for engineering documentation, ensuring all information is complete and up to date.

* Manage document control activities, including tracking revisions, maintaining version control, and ensuring proper document approvals.

* Support the preparation, storage, and retrieval of mechanical, electrical, and industrial engineering documents.

* Use document management systems and Microsoft Office tools to organize and track engineering records.

* Collaborate with engineering and project teams to ensure timely access to required documents and drawings.

* Assist with documentation related to oil and gas, pipeline, and energy engineering projects, following established standards and procedures.

* Ensure that all documentation adheres to internal guidelines, industry standards, and project requirements.

Essential Skills

* Experience with document control and document management in an engineering environment.

* Proficiency in data entry with strong attention to detail and accuracy.

* Familiarity with mechanical, electrical, and industrial engineering documentation.

* Ability to work with P&IDs and engineering drafting documents.

* Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications for organizing and managing documents.

* Experience supporting projects in oil and gas, pipeline, or energy engineering environments.

* Ability to follow instructions from lead engineers and work effectively within a structured process.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

* Experience as a piping designer is beneficial.

* Familiarity with Cadworx for piping design is an advantage.

* Previous experience in a similar document control or engineering support role is preferred.

* Strong organizational and time management skills.

* Ability to communicate clearly with engineering and project teams.

Work Environment

This role is based in an in-office setting with standard hours from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Covered parking is available for employees. The position supports engineering teams in the oil and gas, pipeline, and energy sectors, working with a variety of engineering documents and digital tools. The work environment offers two weeks of paid time off, paid holidays, and a flexible work schedule, providing a balanced and supportive setting for professionals who value both structure and flexibility.

This is a Contract position based out of Houston, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.
