We are looking for a Junior Stress Analyst to join our team at Barrios Technologies in partnership with NASA. The successful candidate will support NASA’s deep space exploration efforts by performing structural analysis and contributing to engineering solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Support structural analysis tasks for NASA/JSC customer in the Structures Branch.
  • Review and understand structural requirements on Flight Hardware, Ground Support Equipment, and Test Support Equipment.
  • Perform classical hand calculations for stress analysis and determine margins of safety.
  • Create finite‑element models using PATRAN, FEMAP, or MSC/MARC.
  • Apply loads and boundary conditions, post‑process results, and calculate margins of safety for parts and assemblies.
  • Prepare structural analysis reports.
  • Collaborate with other engineers to resolve technical issues.
  • Assess parts and assemblies for fracture control per NASA‑STD‑5019 and fastener/joint assemblies per NASA‑STD‑5020.
  • Be familiar with NASA‑STD‑5001, NASA‑STD‑5005, and other relevant NASA standards.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in the field or a related area.
  • Familiarity with desktop software applications and MS Office.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preferences
  • Previous experience performing structural analysis on NASA spaceflight hardware.
  • Experience using the finite‑element analysis tools listed in the job description.
  • Experience or familiarity with NASGRO.
Physical Requirements
  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time).
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
