Summary:

A Structural Engineer II (SE II) applies developing expertise to a variety of structural engineering tasks for midstream/facilities oil & gas projects. This role involves taking on more responsibility for specific structural design elements, conducting detailed analyses, and contributing significantly to project deliverables. This position performs more independent work while still benefiting from senior guidance.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed structural design for specific project components, such as equipment foundations, pipe racks, platforms, and minor buildings.
  • Conduct advanced structural calculations and analyses (e.g., wind, seismic, thermal loads) to ensure design integrity and compliance.
  • Preparation of comprehensive structural engineering drawings, specifications, and design reports.
  • Evaluation of vendor proposals for structural steel and concrete materials and services, providing technical recommendations.
  • Assistance in the resolution of technical issues during design, fabrication, and construction phases.
  • Ensuring all designs comply with applicable industry codes, standards (e.g., AISC, ACI, ASCE, IBC), and client requirements.
  • Coordination of structural design aspects with other disciplines and external consultants.
  • Some travel may be required.

Required

Skills and Abilities:

  • Solid understanding of steel and concrete design principles, foundation design, and finite element analysis concepts.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software (e.g., STAAD.Pro, RISA-3D, SAP
    2000) and AutoCAD or Revit.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
  • Experience with applicable codes and standards (e.g., AISC 360, ACI 318, ASCE
    7).
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
  • Team player – able to communicate and relate well with others.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Occasional lifting of office supplies or equipment up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to move around the office for daily tasks and meetings, and job site visits, when required.
