The Texas Gulf Coast area has an opportunity to join our team as the Real Estate Services Section Leader. The position is responsible for the day‑to‑day operations of the Real Estate Services staff, including leadership, staff recruiting, development and retention, workload management, quality assurance/control, and client development for the Texas Gulf Coast. The Section Leader also coordinates with other area, regional, and national managers within the company to advance technical excellence and support delivery of HDR services.
The position will involve working closely with HDR leadership to drive program development in the South‑Central Region across all service lines and client asset types. The candidate must have a strong technical understanding of power, oil and gas, mining, industrial, transportation and water‑related real estate and right‑of‑way programs. The candidate will also support the goals and vision of HDR through regular communication between the local management team, other technical groups and business development managers within the company.
The individual will be responsible for the operations of the right‑of‑way group in the Texas Gulf Coast areas and provide consulting and project management leadership. The candidate should possess a balanced portfolio of skills to manage and grow a multi‑disciplined sector, including business development which requires networking and developing leads, establishing and managing client relationships, and strategic thinking for both our clients and internal programs.
It also includes working with business development managers to identify and promote cross‑sector opportunities, forecast market changes and anticipate their impacts to clients; lead pre‑proposal visitations, and support proposal preparation with technical and marketing staff by providing client‑centric input and feedback; and giving presentations to clients and project stakeholders.
- Lead quality control, including confirmation that quality work is planned and organized throughout the project and implement corrective measures as needed.
- Develop relationships in the marketplace with potential clients and define technical solutions to address opportunities discovered through relationship development activities.
- Support marketing leadership in crafting client capture plan strategies and prioritizing marketing and business development efforts.
- Provide strategic leadership and mentoring to create a bridge between technical resources and client needs.
- Identify and develop opportunities to expand services to existing clients.
- Lead risk management activities for both contract reviews and project deliverables.
- Act as the technical SME for the local area right‑of‑way market.
- Work with area and regional leadership to strategically expand service offerings in the local area.
- End‑to‑end project management for large and/or complex right‑of‑way projects.
- Coordinate work of multidisciplinary teams, including both internal and external resources.
- Manage project budgets.
- Adhere to QA/QC procedures.
- Travel within region.
- Perform other duties as needed.
- Texas Real Estate Sales License or Texas Real Estate Broker License; IRWA SR/WA Certification.
- Minimum 10 years of experience with implementation of the Texas State Property Code as it pertains to the Eminent Domain process.
- Minimum 10 years of experience with implementation of the Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition for Federal and Federally Assisted Programs.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 10 years experience.
- Professional registration, license or certification may be required based on role.
- Strong communication and listening skills.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments.
- Good leadership and organizational skills.
