The Role Mechanical Designer
Axiom Space is a fast-paced, highly technical environment pushing the boundaries of human spaceflight and advanced engineering. We are seeking a driven, resilient, and detail-oriented Mechanical Designer who thrives in complex, multidisciplinary settings. This role is ideal for someone who brings high energy, strong collaboration skills, and a passion for designing hardware that performs reliably in demanding conditions.
KeyDuties & Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with various project teams and stakeholders
- Design components and assemblies to meet project requirements
- Design for manufacturability and maintenance
- Create 3D CAD production models
- Create 2D drawings using GD&T according to ASME Y14.5
- Perform additional job duties as assigned

- Education & Experience:
Associate degree or bachelor's degree in design, or related field, with 5-10 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience - Preferred experience in life support engineering or similar role
- Proficient in 3D and 2D CAD environments (preferably, Solid Works)
- Track record of making things happen in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
- Uses good judgement to problem-solve proactively, positively impacting hard challenges
- Demonstrated organization skills to meet tight deadlines with high quality results

Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
Requirements:- Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation
- Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised
- Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position
- Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet critical project milestones
- Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time)
- May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time)
- Equipment and Machines:
Standard office equipment (PC, phone, printer, etc.)
