Position Overview

Join our partner firm, Kuo & Associates (KUO), as a Project Engineer (EIT / early‑career PE) and support the design and delivery of key infrastructure and capital improvement projects across the Greater Houston area. This role offers the opportunity to work on a variety of projects including paving and drainage, water and sanitary utilities, roadway design, traffic control plans, and site development with a focus on water resources and roadway engineering.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the design and development of civil engineering plans for projects including paving and drainage, water and sanitary utilities, roadway design, traffic control plans, and site development.
  • Support the preparation of engineering calculations, technical reports, construction documents, and cost estimates.
  • Develop and update CAD drawings and plan sets in coordination with engineers and CAD drafters.
  • Coordinate with internal project teams, subconsultants, and regulatory agencies to support project progress and approvals.
  • Assist with permitting, plan review processes, and obtaining necessary agency approvals.
  • Ensure project deliverables meet applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
  • Participate in project meetings and coordination efforts with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Provide technical support during design and project execution to ensure timely and accurate completion of tasks.
  • Assist with reviewing plans and specifications for quality control and consistency.
  • Support senior engineers and project managers with additional project tasks as needed.
Skills & Qualifications
  • Minimum Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum 4 to 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required or ability to obtain shortly after hire; early‑career PE candidates encouraged to apply.
  • 1–5 years of relevant experience in civil engineering design.
  • Experience supporting projects related to water resources, drainage, and roadway design.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD / Civil 3D and experience preparing engineering plan sets.
  • Experience in HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS.
  • Working knowledge of local, state, and federal design standards and permitting processes.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and technical design skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet project deadlines in a collaborative environment.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills when working with project teams, clients, and agencies.
  • Must be local to the Houston area.
