Position SummaryaryThe Structural Analysis Engineer is responsible for performing structural analysis of hardwa
Duties and Responsibilities- ies Performs classical and FEA (linear/non-linear statics, modal, frequency response, random response, explicit and implicit transient) analyses of flight hardware, oil field components and other syste
- ms.
Performs detailed calculations to ensure structural integrity of hardware for failure modes, including but not limited to static, fatigue, fracture, buckling, stability, and cre - ep.
Performs detailed calculations to ensure structural integrity of mechanical joints such as welds and fastene - rs.
Assists the Project Managers and Integrated Product Teams in the support of meeting customer needs, including preparation of proposals, change requests, design reviews, and meeting other requirements related to the design effo - rt.
Prepares presentations and interim reports based on analysis and test data during the design pha - se.
Prepares and coordinates formal design approval documentation and coordinates design approval with custome - rs.
Assists in the development of fracture control assessment and fatigue-life analysis of flight hardwa - re.
Uses appropriate analysis techniques, simplifications, assumptions, and experience-based judgments, to solve complex proble - ms.
Documents analysis results and generates reports for hardware certificati
- onsBS or MS in engineering field such as Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil or equivalent a
nd 10-15 years direct experienc - e. MUST have 3-5 LS-DYNA expereince within the past 5 yea
- rs.
Excellent oral and written communication skil - ls.
Excellent analysis, design, systems, and math skil - ls.
Experience with commercial CAD software such as Creo, Solid Works, or equivale - nt.
Knowledge of and experience meeting industry standards and specifications such as NASA, AIAA, API, ASME, and D
- ES:15-20 year of experience with commercial analysis software packages such as FEMAP, NASTRAN, NASGRO, ANSYS, LS-DYNA, and Mathcad or equivale
- nt.
Experience with classical analysis texts such as Bruhn’s Analysis and Design of Flight Vehicle Structures, Roark’s Formulas for Stress and Strain, Peterson's Stress Concentrati - on.
Factors, Machinery’s Handbook, or equivale - nt.
Experience with APIs, automation and scripting using VBA, Python, or equivale - nt.
Experience with product development of components and assemblies involving metallics in the plastic regime, fabrics, polymers, and composit - es.
Direct experience with Aerospace/NASA Hardwa
