BQMI has an exciting and rewarding position supporting NASA’s mission to the Moon. The Safety and Mission Assurance (SMA) Engineering Contract (SMAEC III) at the Johnson Space Center in Houston is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Reliability Engineer to support the development, verification, and certification of critical systems enabling NASA’s Low‑Earth Orbit and Lunar surface missions. You will become fully knowledgeable of system requirements, functional architectures, mission profiles, and operational scenarios for Axiom-managed spaceflight systems and EVA-related hardware. You will aid in developing/maturing Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEA) and Critical Items Lists (CILs) to ensure that systems and products perform consistently and without failure over their intended lifespan.

• Perform reliability engineering assessments across system life cycles, including requirements evaluation, design maturity reviews, operational concepts, early safety and reliability products, and reliability certification of Axiom hardware and mission-support systems.
• Develop and assure reliability and risk analyses (such as FMEAs, fault trees, and reliability models).
• Present reliability positions at program boards, technical reviews, and SMA panels.
• Analyze performance data, develop/support reliability tests, and implement improvements to enhance system durability and efficiency.
• Support Axiom engineering and program leadership, NASA’s Johnson Space Center (JSC) Safety & Mission Assurance (SMA) Directorate, the Extravehicular Activity and Human Surface Mobility Program (EHP), and various ISS, and Lunar program office stakeholders.
• Experience with EVA or EMU hardware and operations, or reliability/safety support for complex space systems.
• Working knowledge of ISS systems, EVA tools, airlock/EMU interfaces, and related operational concepts.
• Background in spacesuit development, critical space hardware design, or development of operations products (procedures, flight rules, certification packages).
• Experience supporting NASA human spaceflight programs.
• Experience with environmental control and life support systems, thermal control, structural or mechanical systems.
• Familiarity with human factors considerations for crewed hardware design.
• Experience supporting real-time EVA or spacecraft operations in a control-room environment.
• Exemplary oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to perform independent technical research and data gathering.
• Ability to generate high quality written technical reports and prepare and give high quality technical presentations for senior management and the customer.
• Ability to work effectively across multiple organizations / stakeholders and within a teaming environment to get results.
• Ability to work autonomously, with minimal management oversight, to prioritize work and accomplish tasks within tight schedule constraints.
• Ability to visualize, articulate, and condense complex issues into concise, easily understood presentations.

• Axiom Reliability Engineers are required to complete an internal training and certification program, and once certified, may mentor new team members or cross-disciplinary personnel.

• BS in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, or related STEM discipline.
• 8‑10 years’ experience in SMA, specifically System Safety Hazard and Risk Analysis.
• Basic knowledge and use of personal computer with typical business software.
• Excellent organizational, documentation and written and verbal communication skills are mandatory.
• Must be able to travel (minimal).
• Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.

• Must be able to work independently.
• Must be comfortable interfacing with a variety of individuals at all levels.
• Must be self‑motivated to work in an office or technical environment or remotely if the situation requires it.
