Job Description

Are you passionate about solving complex problems? Join our dynamic team as a Project Engineer and become a vital contributor to support NASA as an Oceaneering teammate on the JSC Engineering, Technology, and Science (JETS) II contract. As an integral part of our organization, you’ll play a crucial role in the Survival and Thermal Systems section of the Engineering Department on the NASA JSC Engineering, Technology and Science II (JETS II) contract.

This role will immerse you in human spaceflight and deep space exploration programs. Your contributions will ensure that our services not only meet but outperform all standards and expectations.

We are seeking someone with a keen eye for detail, a strong commitment to owning their work, and providing superior quality. Desired traits include genuine curiosity and a desire for growth and continuous learning. Someone in this role would typically have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and normally possess 15 plus years of related experience.

International travel may be required. Possible straight‑time overtime and a 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off) are possible.

Responsibilities
  • Develop project documentation and maintain status of drawings and procurements.
  • Work with the systems engineering team to ensure the test strategy will provide sufficient information on the system performance and capabilities.
  • Inspect hardware upon receipt to verify match with fabrication drawing/models.
  • Build up test rigs and equipment as needed.
  • Perform all system testing.
  • Develop test plans and test reports.
  • Schedule testing with test facilities.
  • Work with the systems engineering team to develop a test schedule.
  • Work with procurement personnel and vendors to order and secure procurements.
  • Analyze test results data.
  • Assist project management with configuration control of project documentation.
  • Develop test procedures, including working with various organizations across JSC for flight certification of hardware.
  • Work with the community, specifically the HLS program and the HLS provider, to develop integrated operation concepts.
  • Develop presentations.
  • Develop logistics, manufacturing and procurement plans.
  • Work in a team environment and report to the project manager and the lead systems engineer to provide status on progress and issues and for support.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Required Qualifications
  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and normally possesses 15 plus years of related experience.
  • Experience with the development of project planning documents.
  • Experience with the design, assembly, verification, testing, and operation of space hardware systems.
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware field, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings and sketches, material selection, and design software and tools.
  • Ability to prepare written documents and verbally present at various meetings.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience with cost and budget analysis.
  • Experience working in an integrated product team.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiar with Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures.
  • Prior experience working in a system development project or program.
  • Familiarity with feasibility assessments and trade studies.
  • Understanding of the Moon2

    Mars mission and concept of operations.

Proof of U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residency is a requirement for this position.

Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.

Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.

Requires working indoors in environmentally controlled conditions.

Job tasks are performed in close physical proximity to other people.
