Project Controls Manager - Power
Play an integral role in shaping how projects are planned, measured, and delivered—ensuring transparency, predictability, and control across complex construction and EPC programs. You operate at the center of project performance, where cost, schedule, risk, and data converge, enabling leadership teams to make informed decisions. This role connects strategy to execution by delivering the systems, insights, and governance needed to achieve successful project outcomes.
Purposeof the role
Lead project controls delivery across one or more projects or a portfolio of concurrent programs. You ensure that cost and schedule performance is proactively managed, accurately reported, and aligned with contractual and organizational objectives. By integrating planning, cost engineering, analytics, and reporting, you support operational excellence and enable projects to meet both performance and financial targets.
You will be responsible for- Establishing and maintaining integrated project controls systems, including cost management, planning and scheduling, and performance measurement frameworks
- Providing proactive oversight of cost and schedule performance, ensuring accurate forecasting, trending, and early identification of risks and opportunities
- Leading the development of work breakdown structures (WBS), baselines, and reporting systems that align with project and organizational requirements
- Collecting, validating, and analyzing performance data, including labor hours, installed quantities, and subcontractor progress to support informed decision‑making
- Managing earned value, productivity, and risk analyses to provide insight into project performance and drive corrective actions
- Identifying, tracking, and quantifying changes to project scope, ensuring visibility of cost and schedule impacts to project leadership and clients
- Integrating project controls data with financial and management systems to support broader business and reporting objectives
- Leading or supporting project controls teams, including planners, schedulers, cost engineers, and analysts, ensuring capability development and consistent delivery standards
- Communicating project performance, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership and stakeholders in a clear, structured, and actionable manner
- Supporting project governance processes, including reporting cycles, audits, and performance reviews
- Driving continuous improvement in project controls systems, tools, and processes to enhance efficiency and scalability
- A degree in engineering, construction management, finance, or a related discipline—or equivalent relevant experience
- Typically 10+ years of experience in project controls, cost engineering, planning & scheduling, or project delivery, including leadership or supervisory experience
- Demonstrated experience supporting or leading project controls on large‑scale power generation projects, including simple‑cycle and combined‑cycle environments
- Strong understanding of project controls methodologies, including earned value management, forecasting, cost control, scheduling, and risk analysis
- Proven ability to translate data into actionable insights, enabling better decision‑making and improved project outcomes
- Strong commercial awareness, including understanding of contract structures, cost drivers, and financial objectives
- Experience leading teams or managing project controls functions, with the ability to drive accountability and performance
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical and commercial information to senior stakeholders and clients
- A collaborative leadership style, with the ability to influence across multidisciplinary teams and resolve challenges effectively
- Advanced knowledge of project controls systems, processes, and tools, with the ability to troubleshoot issues and drive process improvements
- Ability to operate independently, making sound decisions aligned with project and organizational priorities
