Engineering Senior Specialist – Customer Application Engineering (Steam Turbine & Expander)
Lead technical direction and business strategy for global customers in the International Energy Technologies (IET) Center of Excellence and regional teams. Work closely with Sales, Commercial Operations, Engineering, and product leadership to deliver competitive proposals and drive growth across the O&G, industrial, geothermal, and energy‑transition markets.
Responsibilities- Provide technical expertise to Sales and Commercial Operations in selecting, implementing, and developing solutions for major BH customers.
- Support leaders in delivering revenue commitments.
- Develop budgets and firm offers for new unit business, focusing on steam turbines and expanders for energy sectors.
- Focus on geothermal opportunities involving steam turbines or expanders.
- Act as the technical reference point for the country for the complete GTE product portfolio.
- Sustain product credibility in legacy O&G and industrial opportunities.
- Apply deep knowledge of international steam turbine standards (e.g., API 612, IEC) to deliver competitive proposals for mechanical drive and power generation.
- Leverage current IET expander portfolio to tailor offers for new energy‑transition opportunities.
- Assess competitive system performance and hardware evaluation during the bid process.
- Align sub‑vendor proposals with customer requisitions and technical specifications.
- Participate in risk‑assessment, deal‑strategy, and cost‑out activities during proposal preparation.
- Support bid reviews and proposal‑clarification meetings.
- Perform steam‑cycle optimization for all IPG renewable power plants using software such as Epsilon.
- Establish economic evaluations of selected configurations to compare with project CTQs.
- Maintain frequent interaction with clients to promote company products and solutions.
- Develop and maintain documentation of processes and information used within evaluation, analysis, and pricing groups.
- Provide performance data and hardware definitions to Engineering and Sales for proper technical support.
- Communicate project status to top management to support business‑strategy evolution.
- Manage daily priorities and work on assigned projects or processes.
- Provide specific support to complex global projects.
- Collaborate with Engineering and product‑leadership teams to evaluate best technical and cost‑effective solutions.
- Share customer feedback with Engineering and product leadership to refine ongoing product development.
- Support DTI activities to foster the future project pipeline.
- Use problem‑solving skills and document results of generated technical data.
- Establish working relationships through clear written and verbal communication.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college, or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of experience in engineering/technology.
- At least three years of experience working with international customers in engineering, marketing, sales, projects, or customer service.
- Strong knowledge of international standards such as API and ASME.
- Experience with customer‑specification reviews, proposal development, and contract development and negotiations.
- Strong negotiation, oral and written communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to meet established due dates with excellent time‑management skills.
- Capability to act as a contributing team member with effective team‑building skills.
- Full availability to travel worldwide for business purposes on short notice.
