Job Summary

Asset Manager, Solar is responsible for the technical, commercial, and financial performance of a portfolio of utility‑scale solar generation facilities. The role has direct responsibility for day‑to‑day operational performance, long‑term asset health, and full P&L results for assigned projects. Responsibilities include operations and maintenance, commercial and regulatory, and overall profit and loss for the rapidly expanding portfolio of operating solar sites.

Success in this role requires strong technical skills across solar plant systems and sound financial and commercial judgment to drive accountability, optimize revenue, manage risk, and maximize long‑term asset value.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Full P&L responsibility for one or more solar plants.
  • Own the technical performance of assigned solar assets, including plant availability, energy production, and long‑term reliability.
  • Provide technical oversight of solar plant systems: PV modules, inverters, trackers, balance‑of‑plant, high‑voltage systems, SCADA, EMS, PLCs, communications networks, and metering.
  • Manage relationships with third‑party O&M suppliers and oversee maintenance, corrective actions, and safety compliance.
  • Support transition from development and construction through commissioning activities.
  • Identify optimization opportunities: contract restructuring, new market revenue, operational and process improvements.
  • Stay current on industry trends and advise on new technology, spare part management, and replacement strategies.
  • Assist project staff with contractual, commercial, or regulatory issues.
  • Prepare and implement business plans and annual budgets aligned with owners and contract objectives.
  • Communicate financial performance and projections to various internal groups.
Required Education, Skills & Knowledge
  • Minimum 5 years managing or operating generation assets, preferably in electric or renewable power; 1–2 years of solar asset‑management experience preferred.
  • BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Business from an accredited university preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of hands‑on experience in controls, SCADA, and/or DCS if technical degree not held.
  • Knowledge of power‑plant systems (solar, battery, hydro, wind) and operational, safety, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, economic analysis, and contract administration.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret financial and operational data.
  • Leadership skills, proactive work ethic, and ability to manage multiple projects under pressure.
  • Familiarity with merchant and PPA commercial arrangements in power markets.
  • Experience procuring and managing technical and operational services for operating assets.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Frequent travel required.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
  • Work at a desk using a computer workstation.
  • Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking; lifting or moving objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to manage long periods of screen time and typing.
  • Effective time‑management skills for sustained focus.
