Duties: Executes process deliverables according to a set engineering design criterion, utilizing approved engineering procedures, practices, and codes and standards. Applies basic chemical engineering principles of heat transfer, vapor-liquid equilibria, mass transfer and thermodynamics in process design. Performs design calculations using standard simulation programs (such as Hysys, Pro II, Unisim, and/or Promax). Develops process engineering deliverables such as Block Flow Diagrams (BFDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), Heat and Material Balances (H&MBs), Equipment Datasheets, Utility Balances and other process deliverables required for the facility design.

Performs calculations to design process equipment such as vessels, columns, heat exchangers, and develops package process specifications for equipment. Performs relief load calculations and develops associated deliverables. Coordinates the design development with other engineering disciplines while managing workload and meeting schedule due dates.

Telecommuting permitted. When not telecommuting, must report in to the worksite. Due to the nature of construction projects, work may be required at various unanticipated locations nationwide; however, the primary reporting location will be the U.S. headquarters in Houston, TX, with domestic travel limited to less than 10%.

Requirements: Must have a Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent degree, in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or related occupation. Must include experience in each of the following skills:
Process Simulation creation and modification;
Preparation and checking of PFDs/UFDs;
Utility Balances – preparation and checking;
Preparation and checking of relief load calculations;
Participates in Plot Plan Reviews, 3D Model Reviews, P& and Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) reviews;
Design pressure/design temperature calculation or diagram preparation.
