Second Shift Advanced Program Support Technician
The Advanced Program Support Technician will be responsible for manufacturing, building, testing and maintenance of aerospace flight hardware including the Axiom Extravehicular Mobility Unit (AxEMU) Suits and components, pressure integrity layers, EVA tools and crew aids, ancillary equipment, and other subsystems. Manufacturing equipment includes 3D printers, RF welders, fabric lasers and wheel cutters. Testing includes repair, maintenance, cleaning, inspection, engineering change integration, assembly, disassembly, and performance testing.
Hazardous materials such as adhesives, lubricants, and solvents may be used.
- Manufacture, maintain, assemble, test, repair and process hardware; incorporate engineering changes and perform functional performance testing of AxEMU components, EVA hardware, and other assigned systems.
- Operate machine equipment such as 3D printers, RF welding machines, fabric lasers, wheel cutters, and low‑pressure air systems.
- Assist engineers in locating and diagnosing anomalies and recommend corrective actions.
- Read engineering drawings, schematics, equipment specifications, and test procedures.
- Complete specified training online and in classroom to maintain certifications.
- Update job‑related databases daily.
- Adhere to quality and safety requirements.
- Transport hardware by motor vehicle to events.
- Communicate verbally and in writing with technicians, leads, engineers, managers, and customers.
- Second shift operation tentatively scheduled 3 pm–12 am.
- Pass a Class III Physical, Physiological Training, Clean Room and Controlled Work Area Training.
- Excellent mechanical skills; read, comprehend and execute detailed technical procedures, engineering drawings, and work authorizing documents.
- Valid Texas driver’s license with good driving record; able to operate a government vehicle.
- Excellent oral and written communication; read and interpret work authorizing documents and mechanical design drawings.
- Capacity to work in a team environment.
- Education:
High School Diploma or GED. - 5 + years of related experience.
- Associate’s degree plus applicable technical experience; or high school graduate plus related work experience.
- Experience with pressure systems or familiarity with pressurized test equipment.
