Mission of the Position

The Estimator will collect and analyze information to estimate costs of products and services for assigned departments and projects. This will be accomplished by preparing cost estimates for product manufacturing, construction projects, or services to aid management in bidding on or determining price of product or service.

Essential Duties
  • Estimate the cost of new and proposed products and services in the assigned departments, areas, or projects.
  • Collect historical cost data to estimate costs for current or future products.
  • Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates.
  • Establish and maintain the tendering process.
  • Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
  • Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors.
  • Analyze changes to the products and services provided.
  • Consult with clients, vendors, or personnel in other departments to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
Evaluation

Assess the cost effectiveness of products, projects, or services.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Stay up to date on trends and best practices for estimation.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Certifications & Licenses: N/A.
  • Experience: At least three years of estimating experience required.
  • Skills: Excellent analytical skills; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail; thorough understanding of construction project management; proficient with accounting software; proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
  • Talents: Writing; decision making; math; research; negotiating skills; planning; time management; communication skills; problem solving; computer literacy; detail-oriented; integrity / honesty; self-discipline.
