Mechanical Engineer - International Support

Overview

The Mechanical Engineer – Gas Lift is an office‑based role that functions as a technical resource primarily supporting the division's international sales, engineering, and operations teams. The role provides product application engineering, technical support for international sales activities, and ensures compliance with applicable API standards governing gas lift equipment and side pocket mandrels (SPMs). It does not carry direct sales accountability but works closely with sales and field teams to translate customer requirements into technically sound solutions and may involve periodic international travel.

• Technical & Application Engineering
  • Provide application engineering support for international gas lift installations, including sizing, selection, and configuration of gas lift equipment and side pocket mandrels.
  • Interpret and apply API 19G1, API 19G2, API 5CT, and API 5B standards to product selection, manufacturing review, and customer deliverables.
  • Review and evaluate customer well programs, completion designs, and production specifications to recommend appropriate gas lift solutions.
  • Develop and deliver technical presentations, product training, and application documentation for international customers and internal teams.
  • Support pre‑sales and post‑sales engineering inquiries with technically accurate, timely responses.
• International Sales Support
  • Collaborate with the international sales team to develop technically sound proposals and quotations for gas lift equipment packages.
  • Assist in identifying new business opportunities by providing technical insight into customer requirements and competitive positioning.
• Quality, Compliance & Standards
  • Ensure all products and services conform to applicable API standards, customer specifications, and company quality requirements.
  • Participate in quality audits, non‑conformance reviews, and corrective action processes related to international product deliveries.
  • Maintain current working knowledge of evolving API standards.
  • Coordinate with operations and warehouse personnel to ensure accurate technical documentation accompanies international shipments.
• Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with operations, supply chain, and warehouse teams across multiple locations to support international order fulfillment.
  • Interface with manufacturing, QC, and third‑party inspection agencies as needed for international product certifications.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Gas Lift Division, including process documentation and technical knowledge management.

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or closely related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years hands‑on experience with gas lift systems, downhole completion equipment, or production engineering.
• Valid passport and ability to travel internationally as needed.

• Technical Knowledge
  • Working knowledge of gas lift system design and operation, including continuous and intermittent flow applications.
  • Familiarity with side pocket mandrels (SPMs) and gas lift valves, including installation, retrieval, and performance evaluation.
  • Understanding of API 19G1, API 19G2, API 5CT, and API 5B standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and completion schematics.
• Skills & Competencies
  • Spanish language proficiency highly desirable for Latin American markets.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills to present technical information clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to technical detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with engineering or ERP software is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced, operationally driven environment.
