Senior Technical Professional – Structural

Location:

Houston, TX. K  Technical Services, Inc. Full time;
Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week. Telecommuting permitted up to 20% of the time.

Responsibilities:

• Create designs, specifications, and services related to structures and foundations made of concrete, steel, or engineered products.
• Perform conventional aspects of the structural engineering functional area.
• Devise new approaches to problems encountered.
• Plan, schedule, and conduct work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
• Work includes complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.
• Provide technical guidance to designers and less experienced engineers.
• Lead a functional area on a small project or a segment of a larger project; contribute to employee performance appraisals and coach lower-level professionals.
• Prepare and review calculations and drawings to meet project requirements and design codes using STAAD and MAT 3D.
• Assign work to draftsmen.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
• 4 years of experience in downstream plant engineering and design.
• 4 years of experience in the following areas:
• Creating structure analysis models.
• Organizing and coordinating with other disciplines and team members to complete designs.
• Designing steel and concrete structures and preparing calculations to meet project requirements.
• Applying design codes utilizing STAAD and MAT 3D.

Other requirements:

• Domestic and international travel up to 10% required.
