Clayton Services is searching for a Structural Engineer to join a growing engineering consulting organization in Southwest Houston. The Structural Engineer will be responsible for the design and analysis of residential and light commercial structures, providing technical expertise on structural projects, and working closely with clients, architects, builders, and internal teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

- Design structural systems and components for residential and light commercial construction projects
- Perform structural calculations and analysis for wood, steel, and reinforced concrete structures
- Design foundations, retaining walls, slabs, spread footings, and other structural elements
- Prepare engineering calculations, reports, specifications, and supporting documentation
- Review architectural and construction drawings to ensure structural integrity and code compliance
- Interpret and apply applicable building codes and industry standards, including IRC, IBC, ASCE-7, ACI, and AISC
- Collaborate with builders, architects, developers, and project stakeholders throughout project life cycles
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff and project team members
- Assist in resolving design challenges, construction issues, and field-related questions
- Maintain project schedules while managing multiple assignments simultaneously
- Stay current on engineering methods, technologies, industry trends, and regulatory requirements
- Support a collaborative team environment while working independently with minimal supervision
- Participate in knowledge transfer and succession planning with senior engineering leadership
Structural Engineer
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of residential structural engineering principles and building systems
- Experience designing single-family residential structures and low-rise commercial projects
- Proficiency performing structural analysis and engineering calculations for wood, steel, and concrete construction
- Thorough understanding of IRC, IBC, ASCE-7, ACI, and AISC design standards
- Experience utilizing engineering analysis software and AutoCAD
- Proficiency with RISA software preferred
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong client-facing and relationship-building abilities
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented culture
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
Structural Engineer
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline required
- Minimum of 7 years of structural engineering experience
- Significant experience in designing residential structures is required
- Experience supporting commercial building projects preferred
- Experience working directly with builders, developers, architects, and construction professionals preferred
- Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- Candidates who have recently passed the PE exam and are actively completing licensing requirements may be considered
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
