Project Engineer – Brice Construction & Design LLC

As the Project Engineer, you will work onsite in Houston, TX and the surrounding areas. Your primary responsibilities include planning and coordinating construction activities, ensuring adherence to project technical and reporting requirements, and managing the administrative aspects of projects.

Responsibilities
  • Interpret plans, contract terms, and job cost coding.
  • Ensure that field activities adhere to contract plans, specs, and company policies.
  • Act as liaison with construction managers and other contacts to facilitate project objectives.
  • Coordinate work schedules, communications, and work activities with job subcontractors.
  • Complete daily project reporting including cost analysis, timekeeping, environmental and permit compliance, daily reports, Quality Assurance/Quality Control, quantities, and safety program documentation.
  • Coordinate project activities between office management and field management.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination among all project participants.
  • Ensure compliance with current project schedule and project completion documentation.
  • Work with Cost Accounting to manage the financial aspects of the contract to protect company interest and maintain good relations with customers.
  • Determine supplies and materials needed to complete projects and requisition the same.
  • Formulate reports including work progress and cost schedules.
  • Assist in negotiation and buyout of subcontractors and vendors.
  • Represent the company in project meetings as needed.
  • Assist Project Manager with day‑to‑day project operations.
  • Travel to project locations up to 70%–90% of the time.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Typing speed of 45 words per minute and proficiency in database software, spreadsheet software, and word processing software.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft packages and ability to learn costing and accounting procedures.
  • Ability to learn computer‑based construction and scheduling programs.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with employees, business partners, and clients via written and verbal methods.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively with others, maintaining a friendly and positive manner.
  • Ability to visualize, articulate, and solve complex problems and concepts, and make decisions based on available information.
  • Judgement and discretion in handling stressful situations and planning/organizing duties to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and maintain concentration, accuracy, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues, both logical and interpersonal.
  • Ability to facilitate group meetings.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely and efficiently.
  • Traveling to remote places for work‑related purposes (up to 70%–90% of the time).
  • Flexibility to work a flexible schedule.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management required; comparable experience may be substituted on a year‑for‑year basis.
  • Two to three years of experience in civil project engineering.
  • Valid state driver’s license and qualification to operate a vehicle under the Company’s Driving Policy.
  • Ability to pass a drug, driving, and background screening.
Working Environment

The work environment is fast‑paced and multi‑tasking. Employees may work in the office, indoors or outdoors at job sites, with occasional overtime for immediate field support or bid processing.
