Role OverviewCarbon Capture and Sequestration (CCS) Geoscientists evaluate storage opportunities across regional to reservoir scales, identify and assess the commercial potential of new carbon (CO2) storage sites, and deliver high‑quality subsurface descriptions that support business investment decisions. They collaborate closely with reservoir engineering, commercial planning, land, environmental, regulatory, well planning, operations and drilling teams to advance CO2 storage projects from screening through maturation and drilling execution.
Responsibilities- Synthesize geological knowledge to solve complex subsurface challenges and expand technical expertise across disciplines.
- Create and mature storage sites within regional geological frameworks, even in data‑constrained environments.
- Evaluate deterministic and probabilistic CO2 storage potential and identify subsurface risks throughout the exploration lifecycle.
- Integrate multi‑scale datasets (seismic, well logs, core data) to construct robust subsurface models.
- Collaborate within and across multidisciplinary teams to generate and mature storage opportunities and share knowledge.
- Develop modeling and simulation products needed to build simple to complex subsurface scenarios.
- Assess CO2 injection and plume migration risks, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and safe environmental integration.
- Align technical decisions with strategic and commercial objectives to maximize CO2 pore space value and long‑term growth.
- MA, MS, or PhD in Geology or related Earth science disciplines.
- Five or more years of relevant industry experience.
- Strong foundation in the earth sciences, physical sciences, and mathematics, including statistics.
- Proficiency in seismic interpretation, well log analysis, and structural geology to develop regional basin frameworks.
- Experience evaluating CO2 storage opportunities, performing volumetric calculations, risk assessments, and economic evaluations.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills for presenting findings to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Project management skills and ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Ability to document subsurface rationales for permit applications (e.g., UIC Class VI).
- Experience with Petrel, ArcGIS, and Kingdom software.
- Leadership, adaptability, teamwork, and strong communication skills in English.
- Commitment to high safety and ethical standards.
- Pension Plan – automatic enrollment at no cost; monthly annuity paid in retirement.
- Savings Plan – contribution up to 20% of pay, with a 7% company match on contributions of at least 6%.
- Workplace Flexibility programs, including “Flex Your Day,” leaves of absence, and part‑time work options.
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision plans.
- Employee Health Advisory Program – confidential counseling for you and your family.
- Disability Plan – income replacement when unable to work due to illness or injury.
