We're partnering with a growing industrial automation and controls integrator in Houston that is expanding its engineering team due to continued business growth. This is a genuine growth hire, offering the opportunity to work on a wide variety of industrial automation projects while remaining home every night.
If you're a hands-on Controls Engineer who enjoys both project delivery and solving real-world customer challenges, this role offers excellent earning potential, minimal travel, and a highly varied workload.
What You'll Be Doing- Design, program, test, and commission industrial control systems
- Lead projects from initial estimate through design, implementation, startup, and handover
- Develop PLC, HMI, and SCADA solutions for a range of industrial customers
- Respond to customer service and emergency support calls, troubleshooting and restoring equipment operation
- Work directly with customers to manage project requirements and resolve technical issues
- Support commissioning, startup activities, and system optimisation
- Ensure all work is delivered safely, efficiently, and to specification
- 5+ years' experience in industrial controls engineering
- Background within a systems integrator or discrete manufacturing environment
- Strong PLC programming experience with both Allen Bradley and Siemens platforms
- HMI and SCADA experience, ideally including Ignition and/or Wonderware
- Comfortable working in industrial environments and supporting equipment onsite
- Ability to work independently and lead projects from day one
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline (experience may be considered in lieu depending on background)
- Robotics experience (FANUC and/or Yaskawa Motoman)
- Experience with VFDs and servo drives
- Knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics
- Exposure to oil & gas, plastics, packaging, or broader manufacturing industries
- Up to $165,000 base salary
- Minimal travel (approximately 10%) with most work within a 50-mile radius
