Position OverviewThe Electrical Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and well‑scoped estimates for commercial, industrial, and institutional electrical projects. The role focuses heavily on negotiated and relationship‑driven work, collaborating closely with preconstruction, operations, and executive leadership.
This position offers long‑term stability, leadership visibility, and the chance to contribute within a mature estimating department supported by strong systems, historical data, and repeat clients.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare detailed electrical estimates from conceptual through GMP and final pricing stages
- Perform quantity takeoffs for power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, low‑voltage, and specialty systems
- Review drawings, specifications, and scope documents to ensure complete and accurate pricing
- Develop labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing using historical data and current market conditions
- Participate in negotiated work, value engineering, budgeting, and preconstruction planning
- Coordinate with project management, operations, and field leadership to align estimates with execution strategies
- Solicit, evaluate, and level vendor and subcontractor proposals
- Identify scope gaps, risk items, and opportunities for cost optimization
- Support executive leadership with bid strategy, schedule alignment, and risk assessment
- Maintain estimating databases, assemblies, and pricing benchmarks
- 5+ years of electrical estimating experience with a commercial or industrial electrical contractor
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, means and methods, and field operations
- Experience with negotiated work, design‑assist, or preconstruction services strongly preferred
- Proficiency with estimating software such as Accubid (Classic/Enterprise/Anywhere), Con Est, or similar platforms
- Ability to read and interpret complex construction documents and specifications
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work directly with leadership and operations teams
