Primary Services is actively recruiting for an Environmental Specialist for a major and well-established organization in the renewable energy sector. This position supports environmental assessment, permitting, and compliance activities for a growing portfolio of utility-scale renewable energy projects. The Environmental Specialist will work closely with environmental leaders, consultants, construction teams, and project stakeholders to help ensure projects meet environmental requirements while advancing critical clean energy infrastructure.
Responsibilities- Coordinate consultants performing site inspections and regulatory compliance activities, including SPCC, SWPPP, MBTA, and Section 404 requirements.
- Assist with construction site visits and conduct site-specific environmental impact assessments.
- Prepare and communicate environmental assessment reports and inspection findings to project and construction teams.
- Review buildable area constraints and EPC bid packages to identify environmental permitting concerns.
- Track environmental compliance activities and permit requirements across multiple projects under construction.
- Coordinate environmental field studies, including scope development, scheduling, access arrangements, and consultant management.
- Participate in internal and external project meetings to support permitting and compliance objectives.
- Support environmental standards and ensure alignment with project requirements and regulatory obligations.
- Serve as a resource for environmental compliance questions from project teams, contractors, and external stakeholders.
- Monitor environmental permit conditions and provide recommendations to maintain compliance throughout project execution.
- Travel to project sites at least once per quarter to perform inspections and coordinate with field personnel.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations applicable to renewable energy projects.
- Experience supporting environmental permitting, compliance, or environmental assessment activities.
- Familiarity with SPCC, SWPPP, MBTA, Clean Water Act Section 404, and related environmental regulations.
- Experience coordinating environmental consultants, field studies, or permitting activities.
- Ability to prepare technical reports, compliance documentation, and environmental assessments.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and environmental compliance requirements simultaneously.
- Willingness and ability to travel periodically to construction and project sites.
