Within NEI, our Data Center Infrastructure Solutions team is transforming how data centers are built—delivering modular, scalable solutions that accelerate deployment, reduce risk, and support the rapid growth of AI and cloud technologies.
Roles and Responsibilities- Design HVAC, hydronic, ventilation, plumbing, and mechanical systems for data center projects.
- Perform load calculations, equipment selection, energy analysis, and system sizing.
- Develop construction documents including plans, specifications, schedules, and details.
- Coordinate with electrical, plumbing, structural, architectural, and technology teams throughout project execution.
- Participate in design reviews, site visits, construction administration, and commissioning activities.
- Review shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
- Interface directly with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Support project managers with scheduling, budgeting, and technical coordination.
- Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
- Mentor junior engineers and designers as experience allows.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
- 5+ years of experience in HVAC or mechanical system design
- Strong experience with:
- HVAC system design, layout, and load calculations
- Equipment selection and mechanical system sizing
- Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (ASHRAE, IMC, IPC, IECC, etc.)
- Experience with CAD/BIM tools (Revit, AutoCAD, or similar)
- Experience reviewing vendor drawings and technical submittals preferred
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across teams
- Candidates must be able to legally work and reside in the US without sponsorship.
- Data center, mission‑critical, or large‑scale facility experience
- Experience with fire protection systems or NFPA standards
- Exposure to modular or prefabricated systems
- PE license or progress toward licensure
