Job Description
About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Transmission Delivery Lead to oversee the successful planning, execution, and delivery of electric transmission projects. This role is responsible for leading cross-functional teams, managing project schedules and budgets, mitigating risks, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory and customer requirements.
The ideal candidate combines strong project leadership skills with a deep understanding of transmission systems, utility operations, engineering processes, and capital project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the end-to-end delivery of transmission projects, including planning, engineering, procurement, construction, and closeout activities.
* Develop and manage project schedules, milestones, budgets, and resource plans.
* Coordinate with engineering, environmental, permitting, construction, and operations teams to ensure project success.
* Serve as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, leadership teams, customers, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
* Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks while proactively resolving issues that may impact project objectives.
* Monitor project performance and provide regular status updates, forecasts, and executive-level reporting.
* Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, environmental regulations, and company policies.
* Manage contractor and vendor performance to ensure quality, cost control, and schedule adherence.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives and implement best practices in project delivery.
* Support strategic planning efforts and contribute to the development of transmission infrastructure programs.
* SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field.
* 7+ years of experience managing utility, transmission, energy infrastructure, or large-scale capital projects.
* Proven experience leading complex, multi-disciplinary project teams.
* Strong knowledge of transmission systems, utility operations, and project delivery methodologies.
* Experience managing project budgets, schedules, contracts, and risk management processes.
* Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
* Proficiency with project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
* Professional Engineer (PE) license.
* PMP (Project Management Professional) certification.
* Experience with transmission line, substation, and grid modernization projects in the US and/or Canada.
* Knowledge of NERC, FERC, and utility regulatory requirements.
* Experience working within investor-owned utilities, EPC firms, or energy infrastructure organizations.
