Electronics Technician

Job Description

This role is responsible for maintaining, calibrating, troubleshooting, and repairing environmental monitoring equipment while supporting water, soil, air, and gas sampling activities. The Electronics Technician applies strong electromechanical troubleshooting skills to ensure that monitoring instruments operate accurately and reliably, while communicating effectively with field personnel and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

+ Perform calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of environmental monitoring instruments and equipment.

+ Operate and maintain air monitoring devices, gas meters, water quality instruments, and related field equipment.

+ Review and interpret instrument data to verify equipment accuracy and operational effectiveness.

+ Assist with environmental testing activities and provide technical support to field personnel as needed.

+ Diagnose and repair electronic and electromechanical equipment used in environmental monitoring.

+ Conduct preventive maintenance and functional testing on monitoring devices and instrumentation.

+ Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues that affect equipment performance and reliability.

+ Maintain equipment inventories and ensure instruments are properly calibrated and ready for field deployment.

+ Handle shipping and receiving activities related to environmental monitoring equipment, including preparing and tracking outgoing and incoming orders.

+ Use equipment tracking tools to document repairs, calibrations, and equipment status accurately.

Essential Skills

+ At least 2 years of experience as an engineering or test technician, or in a similar electronics technician role.

+ Hands-on experience with instrumentation calibration and electronics repair work.

+ Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical tools and electromechanical systems.

+ Experience working with air quality meters, gas meters, water quality meters, and electronic monitoring systems.

+ Ability to review, interpret, and validate instrument data for accuracy and performance.

+ Strong electronics repair experience, including diagnosing and resolving issues in monitoring devices.

+ Proficiency using test equipment such as oscilloscopes and multimeters.

+ Solid understanding of hydraulics, mechanical systems, and preventive maintenance practices.

+ Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with field personnel and internal teams.

+ High attention to detail and a methodical approach to calibration, repair, and documentation.

+ Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr.
