DataQuestCX is seeking Junior Commissioning Agents to support mission-critical data center commissioning projects.

This is an opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in the field while working alongside experienced commissioning professionals. Successful candidates will gain exposure to real-world testing, startup, troubleshooting, documentation, and validation of critical mechanical and electrical systems.

This role requires extensive travel for long periods of time. Candidates must be comfortable working on active construction sites and supporting project-based assignments away from home.

Recent graduates in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, HVAC Technology, Power Engineering Technology, or related technical disciplines are encouraged to apply.

Role Overview

The Junior Commissioning Agent will support field commissioning activities on active data center construction projects. This role will assist with inspections, startup activities, system testing, documentation, issue tracking, and report preparation under the guidance of senior commissioning professionals.

This is a field‑based development role for individuals who want to build a career in mission‑critical commissioning.

Mechanical Responsibilities

The Junior Commissioning Agent may assist with witnessing, documenting, and supporting commissioning activities for mechanical systems such as CRAH and CRAC units, chillers, cooling systems, Building Management Systems, PLC‑controlled mechanical systems, industrial water systems, VFDs, pumps, piping, and related mechanical equipment.

Responsibilities may include participating in field inspections and system walkthroughs, recording test results, maintaining project documentation, supporting issue tracking, and assisting with troubleshooting under the direction of senior commissioning leads.

Electrical Responsibilities

The Junior Commissioning Agent may assist with startup, testing, and verification of critical electrical infrastructure such as generators, UPS systems, switch gear, transfer switches, bus duct systems, PLC‑controlled electrical systems, and related power distribution equipment.

Responsibilities may include collecting and organizing test documentation, assisting with electrical inspections and system verification, supporting troubleshooting activities, and helping prepare reports and closeout documentation.

Requirements

We are looking for candidates who have a strong technical foundation, a willingness to learn, and the ability to work in the field on active construction projects.

Ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s degree, diploma, or technical certification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, HVAC Technology, Power Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline.

Candidates should have a basic understanding of mechanical or electrical systems, including HVAC equipment, pumps, piping, controls, power distribution, generators, UPS systems, switch gear, drawings, schematics, and project documentation.

This role requires strong attention to detail, good communication skills, and the ability to follow direction, ask questions, and work as part of a project team.

Candidates must be willing and able to travel extensively for long periods of time and work project‑based assignments away from home.

Internship, co‑op, laboratory, construction, or field experience is considered an asset, but is not required.
