Industrial I&C Engineer
Location: Houston, TX 77042
Pay: $60–$70/hour
Schedule: Onsite
We are seeking an experienced Industrial Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer to support complex industrial and mission‑critical projects in Houston, TX. This contract opportunity is ideal for engineers with expertise in PLC systems, automation, instrumentation, commissioning, controls engineering, and industrial process systems
.
- Develop control strategies, functional specifications, and sequence of operations
- Design and support industrial automation systems, including PLC, HMI, and SCADA integration
- Create and maintain controls documentation, including P&IDs, I/O lists, loop diagrams, alarm setpoints, and network architecture
- Support instrument selection and specification for pressure, temperature, flow, level, and control valve applications
- Review control panel designs, wiring diagrams, and electrical drawings
- Assist with FAT, SAT, commissioning, startup activities, loop checks, and system validation
- Troubleshoot instrumentation and control systems during installation and startup
- Coordinate with engineering, operations, maintenance, vendors, and contractors to ensure successful project execution
- Support technical reviews, procurement activities, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of industrial controls, automation, or engineering experience
- Strong background in process controls, instrumentation, and commissioning
- Working knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, control loops, and industrial networks
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, loop sheets, one-line diagrams, and wiring drawings
- Experience with industrial standards such as ISA, NEC, NFPA, and IEC
- Strong troubleshooting, communication, and project coordination skills
- Experience with process cooling, refrigeration, or hydronic control systems
- Modular plant construction experience
