Position SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Chemical Engineer (7+ years) to serve as a Process Owner in our Reaction Plant operations. This role is responsible for improving process safety, quality, reliability, throughput, and cost performance across the production process.
The successful candidate will provide day‑to‑day technical support, lead continuous improvement initiatives, optimize distillation and solvent recovery systems, and manage capital improvement projects. This position works closely with Operations, Process Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and EHS to drive operational excellence and support future growth.
Key Responsibilities Process Ownership & Operations Support- Serve as the primary technical resource for key manufacturing processes.
- Provide troubleshooting support and resolve process‑related issues.
- Monitor key performance metrics and drive continuous improvement.
- Develop and maintain operating procedures, process documentation and operator training.
- Improve throughput, yield, cycle time, quality, and operating efficiency.
- Optimize distillation, separation, and solvent recovery systems.
- Apply mass and energy balance, heat transfer, and process engineering principles to identify and implement improvements.
- Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions.
- Support evaluation and optimization of reactors, distillation systems, heat exchangers, pumps, instrumentation, and control systems.
- Develop project scopes, cost estimates, and implementation plans.
- Lead equipment upgrades, debottlenecking efforts, and capital projects from concept through startup.
- Analyze process data and operating trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Utilize statistical analysis and process control tools to enhance performance.
- Prepare technical reports and present recommendations to leadership.
- Support Process Safety Management (PSM) programs and regulatory compliance.
- Participate in PHAs, MOC reviews, incident investigations, and operating procedure development.
- Promote safe and reliable operating practices.
- Collaborate with Operations, Process Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and EHS teams.
- Support operator training and process knowledge development.
- Provide technical support to remote operations as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
- 7+ years of experience in chemical manufacturing or process engineering.
- Experience with:
- Process troubleshooting and optimization
- Distillation and separation processes
- Solvent recovery systems
- Heat and mass transfer applications
- Process control and process improvement
- Capital and continuous improvement projects
- Strong understanding of P&IDs, process safety, root cause analysis, and statistical process analysis.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
- Ability to work onsite and provide occasional after‑hours support.
- Experience in batch manufacturing, specialty chemicals, petrochemicals, or related industries.
- Experience with process simulation software (Aspen Plus, Aspen HYSYS, or equivalent).
- Familiarity with PLCs, SCADA, and industrial automation systems.
- Experience leading capacity expansion, debottlenecking, and equipment commissioning projects.
- Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Effective communicator at all organizational levels.
- Proven ability to lead projects and implement sustainable improvements.
- Balances safety, quality, production, and cost objectives.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
