Responsibilities
- Develop mechanical designs for buildings, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Lead the planning, design, and commissioning of building HVAC and plumbing systems.
- Lead whole building energy modeling and sustainability requirements reporting.
- Coordinate with other support disciplines and regional offices.
- Assist project managers with project management and follow quality assurance and control plans.
- Travel periodically to project sites.
- Knowledge of mechanical engineering and sustainability principles.
- Mentor and train technical staff.
- Interface with clients on project design, delivery, and construction.
- Manage project budget and schedule compliance.
- Oversee mechanical design of building projects throughout the lifecycle from concept through construction.
- Utilize BIM design software to produce construction drawings.
- Use Microsoft Excel for design calculations.
- Manage multiple assignments concurrently.
- Maintain time management and product quality.
- Follow quality assurance and quality control plans.
- Engage in continuing education and learning related to project needs.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or architectural engineering with a mechanical focus from an ABET‑accredited university or college.
- Passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
- 5‑10 years of building design and construction industry experience.
- Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles related to building mechanical designs.
- Proven experience overseeing mechanical designs, including detailed plans and specifications for building projects.
- Technical competence in building mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
- Strong communication skills.
- Experience with Autodesk Revit.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
- Licensed Professional Engineer.
- Experience with AIA Master Spec.
- Knowledge of Federal Agency design criteria.
