Principal Structural Engineer – Resilience Water Team (Houston, Texas)
We are looking for a Principal Structural Engineer to lead water and wastewater structural design and construction projects, focusing on municipal and industrial Water/Wastewater and Water Resources infrastructure.
Responsibilities- Provide geographic leadership for the structural engineering team.
- Make staffing and strategy decisions.
- Manage junior and mid‑level structural engineering staff.
- Organize and conduct engineering investigations, calculations, and planning work for projects with clearly defined scope.
- Lead the development of calculations, plans, specifications, RFPs, and other contract documents.
- Work directly with engineering disciplines, project staff, clients, and subcontractors to coordinate meetings, present to clients, and prepare reports.
- Manage production of engineering and construction drawings, specifications, bid packages, and cost estimates.
- Function as Engineer of Record, Task Manager, or Project Engineer to manage budgets, schedules, deliverables, permits, scopes of work, and project coordination.
- 15 years of structural engineering experience in Water/Wastewater.
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering (structural emphasis).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Structural or Civil/Structural.
- Strong structural analysis and design skills, proficient with STAAD Pro and other structural software.
- Excellent technical writing and editing abilities.
- Experience preparing, reviewing, and approving project drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD/REVIT for design documentation.
- Working knowledge of building codes and standards (IBC, ACI, etc.).
- Master’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering with a focus on structural engineering.
- At least 20 years of practical experience in Water/Wastewater structural engineering.
- Professional Engineer license across multiple states, or Structural Engineer (SE) or NCEES record with MLSE.
- Completed NCEES 16‑Hour structural exam.
- Proficiency in MATHCAD.
