As a Lead Structural Engineer, you will be a part of a growing team that supports all aspects of the construction process by performing innovative design engineering through brainstorming conceptual designs, performing and/or reviewing structural calculations, developing plans, scheduling tasks to meet client needs, as well as mitigating risk to keep our construction crews safe. Our rapidly growing oil, gas and chemical team, which includes structural, civil, piping, mechanical, process, process safety, electrical, instrument and control disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on the EPCC delivery model for dynamic process facilities.

This position is based out of our Energy Corridor office and typically requires less than 25 percent travel. Opportunities for flexible work are available.

• Performs complex calculations and applies standards correctly without supervision.
• Takes lead when works with peers.
• Reviews the work of engineers and designers developing engineering and design documents as needed for the project.
• Analyzes structures using various structural engineering software programs for the design of buildings and building foundations, equipment platforms and foundations, pipe racks, and miscellaneous concrete and steel structures; prepares quantities, cost estimates, and other supporting documentation for projects.
• Prepares engineering drawings and calculations, including specifications relating to the discipline.
• Reviews, monitors and ensures compliance requirements are met for the design (e.g. standards, specifications and local codes and regulations).
• Possesses critical analytical skills and is adept at utilizing decision‑making tools with a high level of data analysis skills.
• Regularly performs reviews of vendor documents to ensure specifications and data sheet requirements are met.
• Leads mid to large‑size projects or proposals.
• Develops and leads others in ways of improving the design and lowering cost.
• Considers multiple solutions and makes good decisions based on good data analysis.
• Manages several different assignments simultaneously.
• Applies techniques/technologies to improve processes and business results.
• Utilizes industry and company standards to design and engineer effectively.
• Serves as a resource to less experienced engineers.
• Reviews application of standards for correct interpretations.
