Mechanical Designer
The Mechanical Designer performs mechanical design and drafting of electro-mechanical systems across multiple industries. This position requires the creation of 3D models, detailed assembly and production drawings, and manufacturing documentation while ensuring accuracy, quality, and project schedule compliance.
Position Leveling SummaryThe Mechanical Designer position is responsible for the mechanical design scope of multiple concurrent projects in accordance with company engineering and design standards. This role works in a team setting with sales, engineers, designers and manufacturing to achieve project objectives. The successful candidate will:

- Design of electrical switch gear, drive systems, structures and mechanical assemblies.
- Create detailed 3D models, mechanical layouts, and assembly drawings suitable for fabrication in-house or by third-party fab shops.
- Ensure adherence to company drafting and design standards, part numbering, and bill of materials processes.
- Work with engineers, production personnel and fabricators to maintain design integrity and manufacturability.
- Engage with vendors to ensure quality and on-time component delivery.
- Support other departments by providing technical input and documentation assistance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum Qualifications
- Strong problem solving and communication skills.
- Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes, material properties and geometric dimensions and tolerances.
- Associate degree or technical diploma in drafting or design.
- Three (3) or more years of 3D modeling and detailing experience in oilfield or related industries.
- High proficiency level using Solid Works and AutoCAD Inventor software for mechanical systems design.
- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with PDM software for drawing archive and revision control.
- Equipment skid design, oil field powerhouse layout and design, electrical switch gear design and sheet metal assemblies and fabrication.
- Expert-level understanding of electrical bus and cable sizing per National Electric Code (NEC) standards.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook and SAP.
- Work primarily in an office environment with occasional visits to the shop floor for measurements or collaboration.
- Regular sitting, standing, and using computers and office tools.
- Minimal exposure to physical hazards; adherence to PPE when required.
This position reports directly to the Senior Project Engineer.
