Barrios Technology, a leading aerospace engineering and NASA contractor, is hiring an ISS C&DH SMC Engineer to join our team in Houston, Texas. This role supports the Boeing Engineering and Technical Services (BETS-SWS) contract at NASA’s Johnson Space Center (JSC), working on the International Space Station (ISS) Command and Data Handling (C&DH) team. Responsibilities include requirements analysis, systems engineering, software verification and validation, and avionics interface design in direct support of NASA’s human spaceflight programs.
Responsibilities- Member of the ISS C&DH Team: perform architectural analysis, requirements definition, hardware and software interface definition, and validation and verification of requirements.
- Familiarize with the software development and verification lifecycle for the ISS and SMC requirements; assess requirements relative to ISS Computer Software Configuration Items and interfaces with International Partners and Visiting Vehicles.
- Prepare SMC internal Data Assessment Reports (DARs) for Final Qualification Testing (FQT) of each CSCI undergoing stage transition.
- Prepare SMC Reverification Agreement (RVA) and DAR documents related to ISS Stage Testing for stage verification.
- Assist in assessment of Software Change Requests (SCRs).
- Support witnessing of Hardware Software Integration stage testing of SMC requirements.
- Conduct system/segment-level architectural analysis, subsystem design, requirements definition, and verification analysis to support changes to ISS elements/segments and avionics Orbital Replacement Unit (ORU) upgrades.
- Validate requirements by traceability analysis; review test plans, support tests, perform analysis, and document and report results.
- Collaborate with investigators to provide engineering design disposition of discrepancies.
- Work with the NASA customer and ISS International Partners to resolve data communication and interface requirement issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- BS/BA degree in a related field from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- U.S. Citizen and able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
- Eligible for government security investigation and access to classified information.
- Work may involve extended periods of sitting and occasional lifting up to 25 lb.
- Mobility sufficient to enter test facility areas as required.
- Office-based environment with possible indoor or outdoor work depending on tasks.
- Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.).
- Regular attendance according to established work schedule.
- Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust for peak periods and surge requirements.
- Teamwork and professional behavior enhancing productivity and collaboration.
- Appropriate grooming and dress for the position, free of safety hazards.
- Potential commuting and traveling to other installations as needed.
