Mechanical Engineer II

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform detailed mechanical design and specification development for specific equipment packages (e.g., pumps, compressors, filters, fired heaters, tanks).
• Conduct engineering calculations for sizing, pressure drop, heat transfer, and material selection.
• Review vendor proposals and technical bid evaluations for mechanical equipment.
• Develop equipment data sheets, inquiry requisitions, and technical specifications.
• Assist in the resolution of technical issues during design, procurement, and construction phases.
• Ensure all designs comply with applicable industry codes, standards (e.g., ASME, API), and client requirements.
• Coordinate mechanical design aspects with other disciplines and external stakeholders.
• Participate in HAZOP, LOPA, and other safety reviews related to mechanical systems.
• Some travel may be required.

• Solid understanding of mechanical equipment design principles and industry best practices.
• Familiarity with relevant engineering software (e.g., Aspen HYSYS, Caesar II for basic understanding, vendor sizing tools).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
• Experience with applicable codes and standards (e.g., API 610, API 617, API 650, ASME B31.3).
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
• Team player – able to communicate and relate well with others.

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Occasional lifting of office supplies or equipment up to 20 pounds.
• Ability to move around the office for daily tasks and meetings, and job site visits, when required.
