Job Summary

In this role, you will lead a team and support material planning and/or material coordination for a project. Planning involves providing work process and system expertise during the early project stages. Coordination will include communicating material availability, accuracy, and timeliness to the correct location. Your team will ensure the location receives the required materials to complete the project.

This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.

Major Responsibilities
  • Manages a team of lead materials coordination or planners on a large project or works within the Supply Chain department in a functional role in a small to medium sized business unit.
  • Provides expertise, advice, and direction for project and field materials management activities to ensure overall organizational effectiveness among all functions responsible for the materials management process.
  • Reviews the initial master schedule, timing and sequence of each functional group, and actual progress to confirm materials meet delivery dates.
  • Reviews schedule revisions for impacts and participates in contingency planning.
  • Interfaces between Construction and Supply Chain to establish delivery dates for material requirements resulting from design changes, rework, contingency, scope changes, or materials missed in engineering takeoffs.
  • Reviews plans at the jobsite for material warehousing, maintenance, control, and handling.
  • Coordinates with Construction and Field Supply Chain the plans for material identification, availability, and handling at the site.
  • Develops specialized training and career development programs to ensure material management personnel are trained and qualified.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills
  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Supply Chain or Business Administration related field is preferred; minimum of 15 years' experience in commercial and materials management related to procurement of goods and/or services.
  • Experience and skill in supervision, including selection, hiring, training, development, and performance evaluation.
  • Advanced knowledge of procurement operations related to materials management at area, regional, temporary, and jobsite locations.
  • Advanced knowledge in Field Engineering and Construction activities, and knowledge of standard work process procedures for materials management.
  • Advanced knowledge of engineering disciplines, work processes, and deliverables.
  • Advanced knowledge of Bechtel policies, instructions, and procurement procedures.
  • Knowledge and experience in the Digital Supply Chain System, Engineering tools, and other project data systems.
  • Prior experience in major global, direct hire, and contract management projects involving Engineering, Procurement, and materials control.
