Job Overview

This opportunity involves leveraging mechanical and piping engineering expertise to create efficient, reliable, and safe data center infrastructure. You will work across the entire project lifecycle, from design to commissioning, ensuring that large‑scale projects meet industrial standards and customer requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Check and approve drawings, information, and documentation to ensure compliance with industrial standards and codes.
  • Review and monitor engineering work for accuracy and conformance with specifications, governing codes, and safety practices.
  • Attend and initiate Design and Development Planning and Review sessions to meet customer and industry needs.
  • Prepare Technical Requisition s (TRs) for mechanical systems and components.
  • Review vendor quotations and provide feedback to the procurement team.
  • Prepare mechanical engineering deliverables such as valve lists, equipment lists, piping line lists, pipe stress/flexibility studies, line sizing calculations, and mechanical equipment data sheets.
  • Prepare bulk Material Take Offs (MTOs) and detailed Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Find cost‑saving solutions while maintaining quality and schedule.
  • Stay informed of new developments and recommend changes to programs and applications.
  • Execute assignments independently and make technical decisions.
  • Represent the organization in meetings to resolve technical issues.
  • Apply advanced knowledge to resolve critical problems.
  • Recommend new technologies to improve data center reliability and efficiency.
  • Select and specify proper painting, coating, and insulation systems for data center components.
  • Determine brackets, fastening, bolting, and mounting of major equipment.
  • Advise project engineers on industry codes and client specifications.
  • Supervise outsourcing of piping engineering work if necessary.
  • Create or check “Design Basis” documents and perform pipe stress analysis.
  • Provide piping load information to structural engineers.
  • Review as‑built drawings and re‑run calculations to ensure conformity.
  • Represent the company with customers during review meetings, acting as the primary point of contact.
  • Provide technical support during construction, responding to RFIs and addressing issues.
  • Attend job site visits, project meetings, and commissioning activities as needed.
Must‑Have Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
  • 2 to 10 years of experience in mechanical design and engineering, focused on data center infrastructure.
  • Ability to produce accurate drawings and sketches.
  • Experience with construction, operation, and maintenance of data centers.
  • Strong knowledge of piping and fire suppression system design.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, codes, and regulations including AISI, ANSI, ASME B&PV, ASME B31.3, ASTM, AWS, IBC, MFMA, MSS, OSHA, NACE, NFPA, PFI.
  • Experience with CAD and BIM software.
  • Experience with fast‑track design/build and multiple upgrade projects.
  • Detailed understanding of piping systems, layout, routing, components, and specialty items.
  • Understanding of chillers, cooling towers, evaporative cooling, mechanical control systems, fan systems, acoustics, pumps, vessels, valves, coolers, and other data center mechanical equipment.
  • Basic understanding of electrical equipment and system design within data centers.
  • Experience negotiating with regulatory agencies for code departures and permit approvals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 Suite, PDF editors (Adobe, Foxit), and CAESARII, Nozzle Pro, FEPipe.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
  • Performance under high‑stress environments and task switching.
  • Strong client relationship management skills.
  • High work ethic and quality focus.
  • Fluency in English, written and verbal.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Nice‑to‑Have Qualifications
  • Additional degrees in Industrial Engineering, Mechatronics, or related fields with data center expertise.
  • Professional Engineering License (preferred for senior candidates).
  • Operational knowledge of SAP, Solid Works, Autodesk Revit, Autodesk BIM
    360, Autodesk AutoCAD, Navisworks, 3EPlus, Pipe Data Pro, COMPRESS.
  • Subsea experience (analogous expertise).
Compensation

Target hiring compensation range: $90,000–$135,000 base salary plus 10%–20% performance bonus, based on education, experience, certifications, and location.
