Traffic Analysis Engineer – Houston, Texas
Garver is seeking a highly‑motivated Traffic Analysis Engineer to add to our growing traffic and transportation planning team in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will have 5‑10 years of related experience, a strong technical background, and passion for the profession. This role will be supervised by a Senior Project Manager and offers outstanding growth opportunity and career advancement.
Responsibilities- Perform traffic and safety studies
- Conduct traffic simulation and level of service analysis
- Develop access management plans and lane configurations for new or modified alignments
- Create traffic signal timing plans
- Prepare summary documentation and reports
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate concepts to clients
- Assist with project management to identify scopes, fees, and monitor progress
- Track budgets and keep projects on schedule, maintaining a client‑focused, service attitude
- Prepare project proposals and participate in project pursuits
- Engage in direct client marketing and develop relationships within service area
- Mentor less experienced staff
- Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited engineering program
- 4‑8 years of experience with traffic‑specific projects
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire
- Working knowledge of the Highway Capacity Manual and Trip Generation Manual
- Experience in capacity analysis, traffic projections, and safety analysis (including HSM)
- Proficiency in traffic simulation programs (VISSIM, CORSIM, etc.), Synchro, and HCS
- Experience analyzing intersections, interchanges, and roundabouts
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Master’s degree in civil engineering
- Experience in transportation planning and travel demand modeling (TransCAD)
- Experience using ArcGIS for data analysis, including review of large crash data sets for trend and cluster analysis
- Experience with pedestrian and bicycle improvement projects and studies
- Experience with marketing and managing local government projects
- Experience working with MODOT and municipalities in Missouri
- Certification as a PTOE and/or RSP
