Purpose

and Objective

Woodside Energy USA Services Inc. seeks a Drilling Engineer at our Houston, TX location to plan and deliver segments of projects and whole well designs within a team.

Responsibilities

Collaborates across disciplines to share knowledge and achieve objectives. Works independently and solves complex problems with some supervision. Makes recommendations on project direction and scope. Learns new projects quickly and can adjust to unexpected and changing conditions. Prepares high‑quality written work and makes clear, concise presentations. Continuously demonstrates professional and ethical behavior. Leads the design process for a full well or portions of a well, including evaluation of casing seat, load cases, well architecture and stress analysis;

designs the well trajectory and survey program; performs drill string design and drilling hydraulics; provides operational support, problem solving, contingency planning and record keeping; participates and leads Well, Operational and MOC risk assessments; assists in the preparation of well cost estimates for planning and AFE generation; maintains a close track of costs during operations, including cost‑reduction ideas; manages service contracts and resolves contractual or invoice disputes;

provides engineering input to quality plans for equipment and service tools.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field of study and 3 years of experience in the job offered or related occupation.
Qualifications

Experience must involve 2 years in the following:

  • Well Design & Planning
  • Preparation of drilling programs, contingency plans and MOCs
  • Well cost estimation and AFE generation
  • GWS HSE strategy and application
  • Lead rig site safety programs and conduct risk assessments
  • Casing seat evaluation and stress modeling
  • Well trajectory and survey program design
  • Cement slurry design for zonal isolation
  • Drill string design and drilling hydraulics
  • Offshore campaign experience across various basins
