SummaryThe CAD Designer uses 2D/3D computer-aided drafting and calculations to provide support to engineering and operations by preparing accurate and routine lift plans, detail drawings, assembly drawings, sketches, and diagrams.
Responsibilities- Uses 2D/3D Auto Cad to develop lift plans, machinery installations, and supporting designs.
- Sets up and maintains an organized file system for execution drawings.
- Meets with the client as necessary to discuss job scope and field-measure the job site.
- Works with the client and crane operators/riggers to determine the most practical and efficient way to complete the job.
- Assembles lift plan packets with all required details, drawings, and certifications.
- Communicates and reviews the lift plan with team, client, operations, and/or safety personnel.
- Adapts to job changes and revisions efficiently.
- Pursuing:
Associates degree in Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Design Drafting, or other related disciplines. - Industry Awareness: A basic understanding of construction and/or engineering standards like AISC, ASME-BTH, or AWS (we will help you learn how to apply these in the field!).
- Software Knowledge:
Hands-on classroom or project experience with drafting tools like AutoCAD 3D or Solid Works. Bonus points if you have been exposed to Bluebeam, Cranebee, or 3D Lift Planner.
- Field Interest:
Any academic projects or limited exposure dealing with cranes, forklifts, hydraulic equipment, or oversized cargo transport. - Core Knowledge:
Classroom, project, or internship familiarity with the basics of heavy machinery, lifting equipment, or cargo movement. - The Right Attitude: A strong desire to learn, adapt, and grow your career within a specialized, fast-paced industry.
