In this role, as an electrical engineer within the HHPC2 Engineering Department’s Design Engineering and Fabrication Section, you will perform tasks essential to the design, development, and certification of electrical, data, and power sub‑systems for human spaceflight.
What You’ll DoOur senior electrical engineer will support flight hardware projects spanning multiple NASA directorates including Engineering and Human Health & Performance, and support programs such as the International Space Station, Orion, Human Landing System, and other NASA programs. The flight hardware projects that support NASA’s exploration missions will contribute to returning humans to the surface of the moon and beyond.
You Will- Perform detailed design of electrical, data, and power subsystems including component identification, part selection, circuit design and layout, drawing development, and release.
- Support projects throughout the engineering development lifecycle including initial concept, requirements, preliminary and final flight design, production and certification.
- Support verification and closure of requirements including design review, analysis, inputs to test procedures, qualification and acceptance testing, review and interpretation of test data.
- Evaluate, select, and apply standard and advanced engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, and use technical judgement to make decisions to provide engineering solutions to problems.
- Employ sound professional judgment and technical leadership through participation in project reviews, customer meetings, control boards, and peer review of electrical engineering design products and presentation topics.
- Deliver high quality products that meet customer requirements within project cost and schedule.
- Build and test electrical, electronic, and electromechanical systems for proof of concept, engineering development, hardware/software integration, and ground test support, and support technicians in fabrication and assembly of flight hardware.
- Maintain and apply expertise in electrical, electronic, and electromechanical systems in support of hardware/software operations support and assigned flight hardware projects in the Design Engineering and Fabrication Section of the HHPC2 Engineering department.
You bring extensive knowledge of electrical/electronic engineering principles and practices and apply that knowledge to make independent decisions on a broad range of space-related engineering problems. You bring experience leading the design of electrical, data and power sub-systems including design support, cabling, and practiced technical judgment to achieve engineering project success and ultimately meet customer requirements. Your experience performing fabrication, assembly, and test of the sub-systems/systems will contribute to timely procurements, review of design requirements and proposal of verification methods resulting in successful project outcomes.
