Our client is a specialist engineering and systems integration company delivering electrical, controls, and automation solutions for municipal and industrial infrastructure projects. They provide end-to-end services including design, implementation, and ongoing support of critical process, power, and automation systems.

They are seeking a Senior Electrical & Automation Design Engineer to lead the design of electrical power distribution, controls, instrumentation, and SCADA systems for water and wastewater facilities. This position combines consulting engineering and automation design responsibilities, offering involvement throughout the full project lifecycle from concept development through construction and commissioning.

• Lead electrical and automation design efforts for municipal infrastructure projects.
• Electrical site and building plans
• Process and instrumentation drawings (P&IDs)
• Technical specifications
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, contractors, project managers, and end users.
• Design medium- and low-voltage power distribution systems and supporting infrastructure.
• Develop and coordinate automation architectures including PLCs, SCADA systems, communications networks, instrumentation, and control systems.
• Review and prepare electrical, instrumentation, and controls specifications.
• Conduct constructability reviews and technical quality reviews.
• Review shop drawings, equipment submittals, and operation & maintenance documentation.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across projects.
• Participate in site visits, field investigations, and design verification activities.
• Support construction teams by evaluating field conditions and developing practical engineering solutions.
• Maintain compliance with applicable engineering codes, standards, and industry best practices.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
• 7+ years of experience in electrical, controls, or automation design engineering.
• Experience designing power distribution, instrumentation, controls, and automation systems.
• Strong understanding of industrial and municipal infrastructure projects.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and project management skills.
• Ability to support project execution across multiple stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel periodically to project sites.

• Water and wastewater treatment facility design.

• AutoCAD experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) licence or eligibility for licensure.
