Civil Engineering Project Manager
Halff has an opening for a Civil Engineer, with their Texas PE License, to be a Project Manager on our growing Public Works & Local Infrastructure team based out of our Houston, TX office. The ideal candidate will bring at least 5 years of public works & local infrastructure design experience in the consulting industry or experience working with, or for, public sector clients.
Municipal roadway, drainage, and pedestrian facility design experience required. The position offers an excellent career development opportunity for someone looking to grow with Halff, with potential for not only business and personal growth, but ownership in the firm.
What you will do:
- Managing and overseeing the design and construction of infrastructure projects, including municipal roadways, trails, and drainage improvements.
- Managing projects from planning through delivery, collaborating with project members, multi-practice teams, subconsultants and other stakeholders to make sure deliverables, requirements, schedules, costs and meeting plans are communicated.
- Assisting in development and management of project scopes, budgets, and schedules.
- Supporting in preparation of proposals and RFQs.
- Managing quality assurance and control analysis to ensure projects meet or exceed client expectations and Halff requirements and comply with recognized standards and codes of practice.
- Applying technical expertise appropriately by understanding project specific standards, criteria, deliverables and best practices.
- Monitoring project budgets, allocating resources effectively, and identifying opportunities to optimize project efficiency and profitability.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external clients, understanding their needs, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
- Managing design and plan production.
- Managing clients and supervising technical staff.
- Providing mentorship and technical guidance to engineers, EITs, and technical staff, fostering a culture of trust and collaboration within project team.
What you will need:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering or ABET accredited equivalent engineering degree
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) License in Texas
- At least 5 to 10 years of experience in public works & local infrastructure, municipal roadway, drainage, and pedestrian facility design projects
- Strong experience working with AutoCAD Civil3D (preferred) or Micro Station
- Experience managing design and plan production
- Ability to manage clients and supervise technical staff
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Previous experience working with public sector clients and business development communications is a plus
- Experience in project scope development, professional services fee development and staffing projects is a plus
- Strong ability to work in a team environment including multiple disciplines
- A positive attitude, be self-directed yet a team player, and have a focus on quality, integrity and success
