Aerospace Engineer – Trajectory GNC/6
DOF, Simulation Software Experience.
US citizen or permanent resident required.
Position is ONSITE in Houston, Texas. Remote work is not available.
Compensation:
Salary starting at $130,000 or hourly consultant rates starting at $75 per hour, with benefits cost sharing.
This position will work on a flight software Development and Analysis Team, which provides software development and analytic support for a variety of spacecraft and commercial programs using the Flight Mechanics Simulation tool. The selected applicant will:
- Provide software development and scripting of NASA's Genesis Flight Mechanics Simulation tool and related applications.
- Design and execute analyses to compare the performance of different guidance algorithms.
- Demonstrate the use of Core Flight Systems (cFS) in Genesis.
- Develop, integrate, and test new algorithms for evaluation of vehicle and mission performance.
- Integrate Genesis with Core Flight Systems and other trajectory software and tools.
- Develop requirements documentation for mission design products.
- Provide recommendations for improvements in design and software development processes.
- Perform other duties as required.
Typically requires a bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of 2-5 years of experience in the field or a related area. Aerospace Engineering degree is highly preferred.
- Experience with orbital mechanics and designing spacecraft trajectories.
- Experience with the development of spacecraft mission design algorithms.
- Experience analyzing spacecraft performance.
- Experience with 6-DOF spacecraft simulations.
- Proficiency in C++, Python, and Linux.
- Experience in product delivery utilizing source code management tools such as Git/Git Lab.
- Experience developing, verifying, and validating simulation models.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Able to work in a team environment consisting of spacecraft civil servants and contractor employees.
- Strong interpersonal skills to enable successful performance in a collaborative engineering team.
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision.
- Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at various meetings.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products.
