The Senior Water Resources Hydrogeologist/Engineer position reports to the Practice Area Director and is responsible for business development, project management, and technical oversight of water resources projects with clients in Texas, Colorado, California, and other states where EKI operates from initial project planning through feasibility analyses, design, implementation, and completion. Projects may include aquifer characterization, water budgets and water accounting frameworks, groundwater-flow and constituent transport modeling, water supply planning, production well design, water transfer support, indirect and direct potable reuse planning, litigation support, and more.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Your responsibilities may include, but will not be limited to the following:

  • Apply expertise and act as a technical resource on specific elements of the water resources practice area, including:
    • Hydrogeologic conceptual models, water balances, numerical model development, and groundwater availability
    • Water supply assessments and water supply planning studies
    • Water supply strategies, integrated plans, water transfers, and water conservation programs
    • Groundwater well design, construction, and testing
  • Develop project strategies and lead technical staff to support completion of projects on time and within budget
  • Build, maintain, and grow client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor to clients across the water resources sector
  • Build, maintain and grow relationships in the professional community across technical and business areas of interest
  • Lead business development efforts, including identification of new opportunities, preparation of proposals and statements of qualifications, and development of scopes of work and fee estimates
  • Manage projects from initiation through completion, including budget tracking, scheduling, invoicing, and subconsultant coordination
  • Provide quality assurance/quality control and technical review of project deliverables
  • Mentor and support junior and mid-level staff in developing technical, project management, and business development skills; may include helping supervise and grow a team in Texas
  • Assist in developing performance goals for team members
  • Other duties as required


QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Hydrology, Geology, Earth Sciences, or related field;
    Master’s degree preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience as a hydrogeologist or engineer for water resources projects
  • Demonstrated experience in business development, including client relationship management, proposal preparation, contract execution, and generating repeat business
  • Demonstrated project management experience, including budget management, scheduling, and responsive client communication
  • Excellent client management skills with a proven ability to maintain and grow long-term client relationships
  • Active Professional Geologist (PG) or Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain licensure in Texas through reciprocity
  • Technical knowledge in numerical groundwater modeling (e.g., MODFLOW), water resources planning, groundwater availability investigations, data management and visualization, ArcGIS, and technical writing
  • Knowledge of and experience with Texas groundwater regulations, water data sources, groundwater availability models, and regional water planning processes
