Lead Project Planner And Scheduler
Primoris Energy Services is seeking an EPC Lead Project Planner and Scheduler with Power and Industrial project experience to play a critical role in ensuring projects are developed and delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with contractual and operational requirements. The role is both strategic and hands-on, bridging engineering, procurement, and construction teams through robust planning and schedule control.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Lead and facilitate the overall project planning and development process.
- Develop detailed Level 3–5 project schedules using Primavera P6.
- Define work breakdown structures (WBS) aligned with project scope.
- Establish logic networks, activity sequencing, and critical path analysis.
- Integrate engineering, procurement, and construction schedules into a master plan.
- Set baseline schedules and maintain revisions throughout the project lifecycle.
Schedule Control & Monitoring:
- Track progress against the baseline and update schedules regularly.
- Perform critical path and float analysis to identify risks and delays.
- Measure performance using KPIs (SPI, CPI, progress curves, S-curves).
- Conduct variance analysis and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain schedule integrity and audit compliance.
Risk & Opportunity Management:
- Identify schedule-related risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Perform what-if scenario analysis and contingency planning.
- Support quantitative risk analysis (e.g., Monte Carlo simulations, if applicable).
- Highlight potential bottlenecks in engineering deliverables, procurement, or site execution.
Interface Coordination:
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, and subcontractors.
- Ensure alignment of timelines across disciplines and vendors.
- Facilitate look-ahead planning (2-week / 4-week plans) with site teams.
- Resolve schedule conflicts and interface issues.
Reporting & Communication:
- Prepare and present weekly/monthly schedule reports.
- Generate dashboards including:
- Progress status
- Milestones tracking
- Critical activities
- Communicate schedule performance to project managers, clients, and stakeholders.
- Participate in project review meetings and provide planning insights.
Change Management:
- Evaluate impact of scope changes, delays, or disruptions on schedule.
- Support extension of time (EOT) claims and delay analysis (e.g., impacted as-planned, time impact analysis).
- Maintain records for claims and contractual compliance.
Resource & Cost Integration:
- Support resource loading of schedules (labor, equipment).
- Align schedule with cost control systems and cash flow forecasts.
- Assist in developing manpower histograms and productivity analysis.
Systems & Process Improvement:
- Standardize planning procedures, templates, and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with company and client planning standards.
- Mentor junior planners and provide technical guidance.
- Drive improvements in planning tools, automation, and reporting systems.
Tender & Proposal Support:
- Develop bid schedules and execution strategies during proposal stage.
- Analyze project scope to define realistic timelines and constraints.
- Support risk identification and schedule commitments for bids.
Leadership & Governance:
- Act as the planning focal point for the project.
- Ensure alignment with project controls (cost, risk, change).
- Provide strategic input to project management on schedule-driven decisions.
Qualifications &
Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil), Construction Management, or related field.
- Minimum 15+ years of experience in EPC projects, preferably in simple and combined cycle power plant projects.
- Professional certifications such as PSP (Planning & Scheduling Professional) or PMP (Project Management Professional) are an advantage.
Technical
Skills:
- Advanced expertise in project scheduling tools (Primavera P6 preferred).
- Strong understanding of EPC project lifecycle, phases, and workflows.
- Proficiency in critical path analysis, delay analysis, and project forecasting.
- Familiarity with contract frameworks such as FIDIC or equivalent.
