EDGE is seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Permitting Project Manager to support our growing portfolio of energy project development clients across the United States. This position will serve as a technical expert and project management leader responsible for permitting, environmental compliance, and regulatory strategy for major energy infrastructure projects including natural gas pipelines, LNG facilities, compressor stations, electric transmission lines, renewable energy projects, carbon capture facilities, and other FERC-regulated developments.
The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience navigating complex federal and state environmental permitting requirements, leading multidisciplinary project teams, preparing FERC environmental documentation, and supporting clients through the project development lifecycle—from feasibility and routing studies through permitting, agency coordination, construction, and compliance.

Position Summary
As a Senior Project Manager, you will lead environmental permitting and regulatory compliance efforts for energy infrastructure projects throughout the United States. You will serve as a trusted advisor to clients, manage project teams and subcontractors, coordinate with federal and state agencies, and provide technical leadership on permitting strategies and FERC environmental reviews.
This role offers the opportunity to work directly with energy developers, pipeline operators, utilities, and infrastructure investors on some of the nation's most significant energy development projects.
Key Responsibilities
FERC & Energy Project Leadership
- Lead environmental permitting and regulatory compliance efforts for natural gas pipelines, LNG facilities, compressor stations, transmission projects, renewable energy developments, and other energy infrastructure projects.
- Manage preparation of environmental documentation supporting Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) applications and authorizations.
- Develop permitting strategies and regulatory roadmaps to support project development schedules and client objectives.
- Coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies throughout project planning, permitting, and implementation.
- Support route selection, feasibility studies, environmental constraints analyses, and risk assessments for proposed energy infrastructure.
- Prepare and oversee permit applications under the Clean Water Act Sections 404, 401, and Rivers and Harbors Act Section 10.
- Conduct environmental regulatory applicability assessments and permitting analyses.
- Develop compensatory mitigation plans and strategies for impacts to wetlands, streams, and other regulated resources.
- Support permitting efforts associated with USACE, EPA, state environmental agencies, and other regulatory authorities.
- Assist clients with permitting requirements during project construction and operation.
- Lead preparation of Environmental Resource Reports and supporting technical studies for FERC-regulated projects.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary technical teams to develop resource reports addressing wetlands, water resources, cultural resources, land use, vegetation, wildlife, threatened and endangered species, and socioeconomics.
- Manage data collection, quality review, and integration of technical studies into regulatory filings.
- Support responses to agency comments, data requests, and environmental compliance obligations.
Field Programs & Technical Services
- Oversee field investigations including:
- Wetland delineations
- Stream assessments
- Habitat evaluations
- Threatened and endangered species surveys
- Environmental construction monitoring programs
- Manage subcontractors and field teams on large linear infrastructure projects.
- Prepare technical reports and environmental assessments to support permitting and regulatory approvals.
Project & Client Management
- Serve as Project Manager for complex energy permitting assignments.
- Develop scopes of work, proposals, budgets, and cost estimates.
- Manage project schedules, staffing plans, budgets, and deliverables.
- Lead client meetings and agency consultations.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to the growth of EDGE's Energy Permitting Practice.
- Support business development and strategic growth initiatives within the energy market sector.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Biology, Ecology, Natural Resources, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 7+ years of environmental permitting and regulatory consulting experience.
- Demonstrated experience supporting energy infrastructure development projects.
